Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child Model
The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model is an evidenced-based model that highlights ten key school health components to ensure students are safe, engaged, supported, challenged and healthy. The model represents a collaborative approach to health and learning and emphasizes the role of the schools, families and communities in supporting student success.
Action for Healthy Kids’ work directly impacts seven components of the model: Health Education, Physical Education and Physical Activity, Nutrition Environment and Services, Social-Emotional Climate, Employee Wellness, Family Engagement, and Community Engagement. We indirectly support the remaining three components by helping schools and districts build the infrastructure to support child health and to coordinate their school health activities.
