Skills-Based Health Education

Skills-Based Health Education
Empowering educators to teach the skills students need to live healthy, safe lives.
Knowing about health is important, but knowledge alone doesn’t always give young people the skills they need to make healthy decisions and put those decisions into practice.
Skills-Based Health Education helps students build, practice, and apply the skills they need to support health and well-being throughout their lives.
Action for Healthy Kids supports skills-based health education through a limited collection of professional learning opportunities and educator resources aligned with the 2021 National Health Education Standards. Through AFHK’s affiliation with RMC Health, select RMC-developed tools and expertise remain available through AFHK to help educators intentionally teach, practice, and assess the skills students need to support healthy behaviors and well-being.
Available resources focus on:
-
01
Teaching and reinforcing key health skills
-
02
Skill progression, student practice, and assessment
-
03
Creating safe and inclusive health education environments
